Inter Milan broke their recent winless streak in Serie A thanks to a brace from star striker Lautaro Martínez. After consecutive defeats, the team faced pressure to secure points, and it was the Argentine forward who delivered under the spotlight. Playing away against Pisa, Martínez netted twice in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory, reaffirming his status as one of the league’s elite forwards.
Martínez struck first in the 69th minute to put Inter ahead, then doubled the lead in the 83rd minute. The victory marked a personal milestone for the 28-year-old, as it was his 250th Serie A match. Not only did he celebrate this landmark, but he also set a historic record by scoring against 29 different Italian clubs—a feat no other player in the league has achieved.
In his Inter Milan career, Martínez has made 352 appearances, scoring 163 goals. With his latest performance, he moved past club legend Sandro Mazzola in the all-time scorers’ list. Only nine goals remain for him to surpass Alessandro Altobelli’s 171-goal tally, while Giuseppe Meazza’s record of 284 goals remains at the pinnacle.
Speaking after the match, Martínez told DAZN: “I’m thrilled with the win. After two defeats, this was exactly what we needed. I play for my team, for myself, and for my family, and everything else I leave to others.”
Inter’s win sees them climb to 27 points from 13 games, closing the gap on leaders AC Milan and Napoli, who both sit on 28 points. Milan maintain top spot on goal difference. Meanwhile, sixth-placed Como are just four points behind, highlighting how fiercely contested the Serie A title race has become this season.
