Railway Crackdown on Travelling Without Tickets: Over Tk 4 Lakh Collected in Fines

A special drive by Travel Ticket Examiners (TTEs) on the eastern railway route has resulted in the collection of Tk 4.14 lakh in fares and fines from passengers travelling without tickets in just one day. Of this amount, Tk 2.77 lakh was collected as fares and Tk 1.36 lakh as fines.

The information was confirmed by Md Subaktogin, General Manager of the Eastern Railway.

According to railway sources, the operation was conducted across 70 trains in the eastern region on Sunday. A total of 105 TTEs took part in the initiative. During the drive, fares and fines were collected from 1,196 passengers travelling without tickets, while tickets of an additional 3,140 passengers were inspected.
