In Shibpur Upazila of Narsingdi, two motorcycle riders were killed after a collision with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. The accident occurred on Monday at around 8:30 pm on the Shibpur-Manohardi regional road near the Pachar Bari area. Three other passengers, including the auto-rickshaw driver, were injured in the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Mahmudul Hasan, 22, son of Moktar Hossain from Joymangal village in Baghav Union, Shibpur, and Md Shafik, 21, son of Abdul Jalil from Sonmania village in Kapasia, Gazipur.
According to the police and relatives of the victims, Shafik and Mahmudul were returning to Shibpur from Manohardi after conducting business. Around 8 pm, near the Pachar Bari area, their motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming auto-rickshaw. Both vehicles were severely damaged. Mahmudul died at the scene, while Shafik, who was seriously injured, was being taken to the hospital by local residents but passed away en route.
Officer-in-Charge Afzal Hossain of Shibpur Model Police Station stated that the bodies have been recovered and sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Legal proceedings are underway.
