Mbappé’s 2025 Goal Rush: Can He Top the Charts?

The year 2025 has been unforgettable in football, with Kylian Mbappé emerging as the standout goal machine. Week after week, he has been scoring relentlessly, leaving pundits and fans wondering just how many goals he can finish with by year-end.

For club and country combined, Mbappé has already scored 60 goals. At Real Madrid, he has played 54 games and scored 53 times, including 23 in the current campaign, contributing more than half of the club’s total goals. For France, he has netted seven times in 2025.

With five club games remaining in December, Mbappé has the opportunity to enhance his tally further. If he can score at least seven goals in these fixtures, he would reach 60 for the year, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the 21st century and positioning himself second only to Lionel Messi’s incredible record of 79 goals in a single calendar year for a club.

While overtaking Messi is a monumental task, moving past Ronaldo into second place would already cement Mbappé’s status as one of the greatest goal scorers of this era. Currently, Harry Kane is on 42 goals, while Erling Haaland has 48 goals combined for club and country.

Only three players in modern football—Messi, Ronaldo, and Lewandowski—have achieved 60 or more goals in a single year across club and country. Mbappé now joins their ranks and could climb even higher with another prolific finish to the 2025 season, possibly challenging legends like Pele if he maintains his remarkable form.
