Prisoner Under Treatment at DMCH Passes Away

An ailing prisoner from Dhaka Central Jail, Abdul Matin (75), died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Tuesday night. He was taken to the emergency unit in an unconscious state at around 11:30 pm, where doctors pronounced him dead.

His father’s name is Mirzan Ali. Details about the case or charges for which he had been imprisoned are still unknown.

Prison guard Mirza Harun said Abdul Matin’s condition worsened suddenly at night. Following instructions from the prison authorities, several guards took him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead after examinations.

Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the death, stating that the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy. The post-mortem will be conducted after the inquest report is prepared in the presence of an executive magistrate. The body will be handed over to the family once all formalities of the prison authorities are completed.
