4,000 Yaba Tablets Seized from Export Cargo at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport’s overall security and passenger services are maintained by the Aviation Security (AvSec) division, comprising the civil aviation authority’s own security personnel, the Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police, and Ansar members, who provide uninterrupted service.

In line with its zero-tolerance policy against all kinds of unethical activities and for maintaining internal airport security, at approximately 0905 hours on 3 December 2025, AvSec personnel on duty at Hangar Gate-8, during a security inspection of export cargo, identified 4,000 orange-coloured tablets of the commercial drug “Yaba” hidden inside items booked for dispatch via the postal service.

It is noted that the seized Yaba was scheduled for export to Paris, France, through the postal service. Upon informing the Department of Narcotics Control, the authorities promptly arrived at the scene and took legal action.

The airport authority stated that due to the vigilance, responsibility, and meticulous screening of the personnel, this smuggling attempt was thwarted. This success has further strengthened the overall security arrangements at the airport.
