The Election Commission (EC) of Bangladesh has convened a significant meeting to finalise the schedule for the 13th National Parliament elections and the forthcoming referendum. The meeting commenced at 10:45 am on Sunday, 7 December, at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Present at the session were the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), all four Election Commissioners, the EC Secretary, and other senior officials from the secretariat. The discussions were primarily centred on reviewing the overall progress of election preparations, including the timetable for announcing the poll schedule.
A critical part of the deliberations involved setting the logistics and timing for postal ballots, ensuring that all necessary materials are delivered and received without delays. The EC also focused on maintaining the highest level of readiness for both the parliamentary election and the referendum by coordinating with field administration teams and discussing measures to streamline communication and collaboration.
In addition to the schedule, the meeting addressed a total of ten key agenda points, including preparatory activities before and after the announcement, readiness for the referendum, evaluation of field-level conditions, and the issuance of official notices regarding the appointment of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers.
This meeting follows a preparatory review session held at the EC Secretariat on Saturday, where progress in election preparations was assessed. Looking ahead, the Chief Election Commissioner and the team are scheduled to meet the President on Wednesday, 10 December, after which the official election schedule may be publicly announced.
