Brazil have secured the title in the inaugural Women’s Futsal World Cup. On Sunday (8 December), the Seleção women defeated Portugal 3–0 in the final held at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Manila, Philippines.
Emily put Brazil ahead midway through the first half. In the second half, Amandinha doubled the lead, before Debora Vanin added a third goal three minutes from time, sealing an unbeaten championship run for Brazil.
Portugal reached the final after eliminating Argentina in the semi-final. In the third-place play-off, Spain defeated Argentina 5–1, with Laura Cordoba scoring twice.
Brazil’s coach, Wilson Sabóia, expressed delight at the victory, saying it would leave a significant mark by helping to popularise futsal further in schools, clubs and universities, ultimately developing better players and coaches.
