Darren Kiely Ends Year With Emotional New Single

Darren Kiely is closing out 2025 with the release of his new single, “Fade”. The track marks the latest addition to his growing catalogue and is now available for listeners to stream. With this release, Kiely continues to explore emotionally driven storytelling through music, a style that has become central to his artistic identity.

Built around a nostalgic melody and Kiely’s soaring vocal delivery, the mid-tempo song captures the perspective of a narrator revisiting memories shared with a former partner. The lyrics reflect moments of closeness, the passage of time, and the painful realisation of a relationship coming to an end. The song also highlights the emotional weight of remembering the final moment when two people part ways. “Fade” was produced by Jack Riley, with songwriting credits shared by Darren Kiely, Nick Atkinson, and Hugo M. Hardy.

Speaking about the meaning behind the track, Kiely explained that “Fade” centres on the experience of watching something beautiful slowly slip away while still holding on. He described it as the feeling of briefly touching another person’s life and imagining a future that could not ultimately be kept. This reflective theme is consistent with much of Kiely’s recent work, which focuses on vulnerability, memory, and emotional connection.

Alongside “Fade”, Kiely has also recently released another emotionally charged song titled “Bound”. Prior to that, his track “Weight” emerged as a strong favourite among fans. “Weight” has accumulated 5.5 million streams and has gained notable traction on TikTok, where listeners have shared personal and emotional responses to the song. The strong audience reaction has further highlighted Kiely’s ability to connect with listeners through honest and expressive songwriting.

Originally from County Cork, Ireland, Darren Kiely’s folk-infused sound is rooted in his early exposure to traditional Irish music. His musical style blends these foundations with modern influences, including artists such as The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, and Noah Kahan. Kiely began his musical journey at a young age, learning the tin whistle at five years old and picking up the fiddle at eight. He later taught himself to play the guitar and began singing in 2019, quickly attracting attention for his raw vocals and emotive performance style.

After earning numerous national-level honours in Irish traditional music, Kiely moved to New York City in 2022 to further develop his sound. He later travelled to Nashville, a major songwriting centre, where his career continued to grow. Signed to Free Flight Records, Kiely introduced his debut EP, Lost, a seven-track project that explores themes of self-doubt, emotional struggle, and personal growth. The EP features “Mom & Dad”, which debuted in the Top 40 of the Irish Singles Chart and reached the Top 5 on the Irish Homegrown chart, as well as “Sunrise”, which climbed to number one.

His follow-up EP, From The Dark, sees Kiely expanding his creative scope by addressing the realities of growing up and moving forward. With “Fade”, Darren Kiely continues to build on this evolving artistic journey.
