When the IPL 2026 player list was revealed, Cameron Green’s listing immediately sparked discussion. The Australian all-rounder appeared under the batter category, leaving fans and analysts puzzled. Was this a clever strategy to maximise auction purse utilisation or a reflection of concerns over his bowling fitness?
Green has now explained the mix-up. “It was just a mistake by my manager,” he said. “He accidentally selected the wrong option when submitting my details. It’s been amusing to see the reaction, but it’s all sorted. I’ll definitely be bowling.”
Entering the auction with a maximum base price of INR 2 Crore, Green is expected to be the most expensive player in the 2026 IPL auction. His ability to bat and bowl effectively makes him a prime target for franchises seeking balance and versatility in their squads.
The all-rounder also shared his plans for watching the auction unfold. “It’s always fun to see the auction. Who ends up where, who you might play with—it’s a bit like a lottery, and it’s always entertaining,” he said.
Turning to international cricket, Green highlighted his expectations for the remaining Ashes Tests. Having bowled only 16 overs across the first two matches, he anticipates a heavier workload as the series progresses. “Any overs I can save early on will help later when other bowlers tire. I’m expecting my overs to increase in the next few games,” he added.
With clarity on his role for both the IPL and international cricket, Cameron Green is set to remain one of the most exciting players to watch in world cricket. His all-round skills continue to make him a valuable asset and a fan favourite.
