IPL 2026: Mustafizur Included in Kolkata Knight Riders’ Line-up

Three-time Indian Premier League champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have strengthened their squad ahead of the 2026 IPL season by acquiring 13 players in a high-profile mini-auction held in Abu Dhabi. The franchise, owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, made headlines by securing Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a whopping ₹25 crore. Sri Lankan all-rounder Matheesha Pathirana was brought in for ₹18 crore, while Bangladesh’s left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman joined the squad for just over ₹9 crore.

Alongside Green, Pathirana, and Mustafizur, KKR’s roster now includes promising talents such as Tim Seifert, Finn Allen, and Rachin Ravindra, all expected to play pivotal roles in the team’s campaign during the 19th edition of the IPL. Following the auction, several Indian media outlets have speculated on KKR’s potential playing XI, highlighting Mustafizur Rahman as a key inclusion in the pace attack.

In IPL 2026, either Finn Allen or Tim Seifert is likely to don the gloves as wicketkeeper for KKR. The team will also rely on the experience of Sunil Narine, a three-time IPL Most Valuable Player, who has claimed over 190 wickets for the franchise and contributed crucial runs as an opener.

Last season, Ajinkya Rahane captained KKR. Should he continue to lead the side, he is expected to bat at number three. The middle order could feature Cameron Green at four, Rinku Singh at five, and Ramandeep Singh at six, providing a balanced blend of power-hitting and stability.

The bowling responsibilities will primarily fall on Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora, supported by Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana. Spin duties will be managed by Varun Chakravarthy. Backup Indian pacers Akash Deep, Umran Malik, and Kartik Tyagi, along with seasoned batters Angkrish Raghuwanshi, Manish Pandey, and Rahul Tripathi, will offer depth and flexibility to the squad.
