Bangladesh Welcomes Zubair Rahman Chowdhury as Chief Justice

In a landmark development for Bangladesh’s judiciary, Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury, previously serving in the Appellate Division, has been appointed the Chief Justice of Bangladesh. The official notification was issued yesterday, Tuesday, signed by Liaquat Ali Molla, Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

The notification cited Article 95(1) of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, granting the President the authority to appoint the Chief Justice. The appointment will come into effect upon the taking of the oath, as stated in the official document.
