The government has assured that Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), will receive comprehensive security arrangements upon his return to the country, according to Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser.
Speaking at a briefing on Wednesday afternoon at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, Alam said:
“We welcome Mr Rahman’s return to Bangladesh. Coordination with the party is ongoing to ensure that all necessary security arrangements are fully in place.”
He emphasised that the government is consulting closely with the BNP regarding security measures and is making arrangements according to the party’s requirements.
“Every effort is being made from our side to guarantee complete safety,” he added.
Alam also addressed the government’s handling of ongoing violent incidents and high-profile murders:
“We are receiving important leads and making every possible effort in the inquiry. Several arrests have already been made,” he said.
Alam further stressed that the government is taking proactive steps to ensure the safety of minority communities nationwide.
The briefing was also attended by Foyez Ahmad, Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser. Officials reiterated that security measures for prominent political figures, alongside general law enforcement efforts, are being coordinated meticulously to maintain public safety and order.
