The stage is set for the grand finale of the National Kabaddi Championship, with the finalists in both the men’s and women’s divisions confirmed. In the men’s division, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will clash with the Bangladesh Army, while in the women’s division, the trophy race will be contested between Bangladesh Ansar & VDP and the Bangladesh Police.
The finals are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, at the Shaheed Captain M. Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in Dhaka. The men’s final will kick off at 4:00 pm, followed by the women’s final at 5:00 pm. The victorious teams will receive their awards from Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who will attend as the chief guest.
The women’s semi-finals provided dramatic and intense encounters. The first semi-final, widely regarded as one of the tournament’s best matches, saw BGB face Ansar & VDP. Both teams, bolstered by national-level players, battled fiercely. Ansar led 16–15 at halftime. After the break, BGB briefly seized the lead by taking an all-out, but the match ended in a 32–32 draw at full time. The tie-breaker tested nerves and stamina, with Bangladesh Ansar & VDP emerging victorious 39–35, booking their place in the final.
The second women’s semi-final was a one-sided affair. Bangladesh Police dominated the Rangamati team, leading 31–6 at halftime and ultimately winning by a staggering 62–18 margin to secure their final berth.
The men’s semi-finals were closely contested. BGB faced the Bangladesh Navy in the first semi-final. Leading 24–12 at halftime, BGB initially controlled the game, but the Navy staged a strong comeback in the second half. Despite their efforts, they fell short, with BGB winning narrowly 40–37 to advance.
The second men’s semi-final between the Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Air Force was neck-and-neck throughout. The first half ended 13–13, and the second half saw the teams exchange points evenly. In the dying moments, the Army clinched a 33–30 victory, securing the final showdown with BGB.
