Comilla police have successfully apprehended six members of an inter-district armed robbery gang in a meticulously planned early morning operation. The arrests took place on Monday, 5 January, in Jangalia, Sadar South Upazila, following intelligence reports that the gang was preparing to sell stolen cattle.
The operation, led by Sub-Inspector Pabitra Sarkar of the Detective Branch (DB) and assisted by Assistant Police Superintendent Arnab and SI Touqik, resulted in the seizure of a pickup truck, eight cattle, and a significant cache of weapons and tools used in criminal activities. The gang members were caught red-handed during the operation.
According to DB police sources, the arrested individuals have a long history of criminal activities across multiple districts, with each suspect linked to five to seven cases. They are identified as key leaders of an organised inter-district robbery network that has been operating for an extended period.

Comilla DB Officer-in-Charge Shamshul Alam Shah confirmed that the gang was previously involved in violent robberies in Chandina and Brahmanpara. “This group has long orchestrated inter-district robberies, posing a serious threat to the safety of the local population,” he said.
Police officials hailed the operation as a significant step in curbing inter-district criminal activities, strengthening law enforcement, and ensuring the security of communities across Comilla. The investigation into additional gang members and their criminal network is ongoing, signalling continued vigilance against organised crime in the region.
