Government Launches Hotline Against Online Misinformation

The government has unveiled a dedicated hotline aimed at curbing the spread of rumours, false information, and misleading content. This initiative seeks to provide citizens with a direct, authoritative channel to report any suspicious or inaccurate information, thereby safeguarding the nation’s information environment and promoting societal security.

The announcement was made on Monday via the official Facebook page of the Chief Adviser’s Office. Citizens can now easily report rumours or misleading claims through the hotline. In addition, a dedicated email address has been established for submitting written complaints along with supporting evidence.

Government officials have also confirmed that the launch of this service coincides with the establishment of a Central Cyber Crime Prevention Committee.
