Ten Detained in Jatrabari During Police Crackdown

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have successfully apprehended ten suspects in the Jatrabari district as part of a concentrated anti-crime initiative dubbed ‘Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2’. Conducted over a twenty-four-hour period ending on Monday, the operation targeted specific high-risk zones known for illicit activities. According to official police statements, the mission was designed to dismantle local criminal networks and curb the rising influence of narcotics distribution within the capital’s key gateway.

During the coordinated raids, law enforcement officers recovered a variety of illegal substances, highlighting the persistent challenge of drug trafficking in the area. Specifically, the search teams seized 92 Yaba tablets—a potent synthetic stimulant—and 27 small packets of heroin. These seizures, while modest in volume, are viewed by the authorities as vital intelligence-gathering opportunities to trace the larger supply chains feeding into the Jatrabari neighbourhood. The DMP’s media wing confirmed that the operation was based on precise tactical intelligence gathered through weeks of surveillance.

The ten individuals taken into custody have been identified as Rony Shikdar (also known as Rajan), Delwar Hossain Delu, Khokon, Faisal, Shuvo Molla, Mizan, another individual also named Mizan, Sohag, Ramzan (alias Hriday), and Ali. Their ages range from 19 to 43, suggesting a broad demographic involvement in the local underworld. Following their arrest, the police initiated formal legal proceedings at the local precinct, and all suspects have since been presented before the court to face charges related to possession and suspected intent to supply.
