In a remarkable display of pace and precision, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury once again stamped his authority in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) by claiming a sensational hat-trick against Noakhali Express at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The breakthrough began when Mahidul Islam edged a delivery that flew straight into the gloves of wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan. Despite securing the wicket, Mrittunjoy remained composed, showing no visible emotion. As the umpire raised his finger, Mahidul trudged back to the pavilion while Mrittunjoy calmly prepared for his next delivery.
The new batsman, Zahir Khan, offered a catch on the very first ball, which Mrittunjoy himself gleefully took. Unfazed, he returned to the bowling mark, determined to complete the over swiftly. Finally, with Bilal Sami at the crease, Mrittunjoy achieved his hat-trick. A shot towards square-leg was deftly caught by Liton Das, prompting Mrittunjoy to break into a subtle smile and celebrate with arms outstretched.
This latest feat marked Mrittunjoy’s second hat-trick in BPL history, making him the only bowler in the franchise T20 tournament to achieve this distinction. Representing Rangpur Riders, this became the tenth hat-trick in BPL history.
