A young man was shot dead in Khulna

In a tragic incident in Khulna, a 30-year-old man, identified as Abdur Rashed, also known as Bikul, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in Rupsa. The incident occurred in the Bagmara area under Rupsa Police Station at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, 10 January.

Bikul, a resident of Bagmara village in Rupsa Upazila, was the son of Abdul Awal. According to police and local sources, he was targeted by armed individuals at Kadamtala Balur Field in the Naihati Union of Rupsa Upazila. The attackers reportedly fired three consecutive shots at him.

He was immediately rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. Despite medical intervention, Bikul succumbed to his injuries around 2:00 a.m. The deceased’s body is currently at the hospital morgue awaiting further procedures.

Early investigations suggest that the killing may have been motivated by disputes over dominance within local circles. However, authorities have yet to determine the precise motive, and investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators.

Rupsa Police Station duty officer, SI Saimun, confirmed the incident, stating, “OC Abdur Razzak Mir, along with police officers, visited the scene last night. Investigation efforts are underway to uncover the motive behind this killing and to apprehend those responsible.”

The community has expressed shock and grief over the violent death, highlighting concerns over rising incidents of targeted attacks in the area. Local leaders have urged authorities to enhance security measures to prevent further tragedies.
