“Two Decades of Chircut’s Journey”

Renowned as one of Bangladesh’s most beloved bands, Chirkut has now proudly completed two decades of musical journey. Under the dynamic leadership of lyricist, composer, music director, and vocalist Sharmin Sultana Sumi, the band has contributed an impressive repertoire of songs to the Bengali music landscape, earning both national and international recognition along the way. Their efforts have been rewarded with numerous awards and honours, celebrating their creative vision and enduring appeal.

The new year began on a high note for Chirkut, with a series of concerts and accolades. On 3rd January, the band launched the year with a live concert in Sylhet, captivating fans with their signature fusion of contemporary and traditional sounds. This was followed by another milestone on 9th January, when Chirkut received the Best Band Award for the third time at the 25th Dhallywood Film and Music Awards held in the capital city, Dhaka. The accolade recognised their hit track “Dami” from their 2025 album “Bhalobashasomogro”, with Sumi leading the entire band on stage to receive the award.

Reflecting on the two-decade journey, Sumi remarked,
“Chirkut has always been in pursuit of fresh melodies and innovative lyrics. Over the years, we have strived to stand by our members and nurture musical creativity. This dedication has turned Chirkut into a home for many emerging musicians. Whenever our music resonates with people’s joy, sorrow, or struggles, we feel immense pride. Singing Bengali music alongside leading global bands abroad has left our hearts brimming with love and gratitude for our country. We aspire to remain the ‘Chirkut’ of everyone’s hearts.”

Looking ahead, Chirkut is now focusing on their fifth studio album, while continuing to perform regularly both domestically and internationally. To mark their 25th anniversary next year, the band plans a series of grand celebrations for their Silver Jubilee, promising a vibrant commemoration of their musical legacy.
