Ten others were injured in the incident, which occurred at an unguarded railway crossing in Sotashi, a neighbourhood in Boalmari town.

The collision took place around 3:00 PM on the Kalukhali–Bhatiapara railway line, when the pickup carrying 15 jute mill workers was heading back to Boalmari municipal area after a morning’s work.

The deceased have been identified as:

Five of the injured sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, while the remaining five were admitted to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

According to railway police and local residents, the pickup had just left the jute mill when it reached the railway crossing. The vehicle was struck by a passenger train travelling from Kalukhali to Bhatiapara. The impact was immediate and fatal for the three workers.

I had just returned from the market and was about to sit down for lunch when I heard a loud crash. I ran outside and saw the train had hit the workers’ pickup. Three people had died instantly, and several others were severely injured. They were immediately taken to hospital.”
