Indian police have arrested film and television actor Nadeem Khan following a serious allegation of rape, a development that has triggered intense public debate across the entertainment industry and on social media. Khan, known primarily for supporting roles in Hindi cinema, television serials and OTT productions, has been accused by a former domestic worker of exploiting her over several years on the false promise of marriage. The case is currently under investigation, and authorities have stressed that all allegations remain unproven until tested in court.
According to the complainant’s statement to the police, she first came into contact with Nadeem Khan in 2015, when she began working as a domestic helper at his residence in Mumbai. She alleges that soon after she started working for him, the actor assured her that he would marry her. Relying on this assurance, she claims, she entered into a physical relationship with him on multiple occasions. The woman further alleges that despite maintaining this relationship for nearly a decade, Khan never took concrete steps towards marriage, repeatedly postponing the matter. Feeling deceived and emotionally distressed, she ultimately decided to seek legal recourse.
Police officials have confirmed that the case was initially registered at Versova Police Station in Maharashtra. For procedural and investigative reasons, it was later transferred to Malvani Police Station. Nadeem Khan was subsequently arrested and produced before a local court. Investigators have stated that they are examining all available evidence, including statements from both parties and any corroborative material, before determining the next course of legal action. Law enforcement authorities have also reiterated a key legal principle: an arrest does not imply guilt, and the accused is entitled to a fair trial.
The case has sparked renewed discussion about consent, power dynamics and accountability within the entertainment sector. While some commentators have urged restraint until the judicial process is complete, others have highlighted the broader social implications of allegations involving promises of marriage and prolonged relationships.
Nadeem Khan has worked in the Indian entertainment industry for several years, largely in character and supporting roles. His career spans films, television series, OTT platforms and theatre. He has shared screen space with prominent actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Asrani, Adil Hussain, Sanjay Mishra, Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi. Among his notable projects are Mimi, Mubarak: The Story of a Spy, Mrs Serial Killer and Dhadak, where his limited screen time nevertheless drew audience attention.
Most recently, Khan appeared in Aditya Dhar’s much-discussed film Dhurandhar. In the film, he portrayed Ahlak, the cook employed by the character Rehman Dacoit’s family. Although a brief role, it carried narrative significance within the story.
