RAJUK Conducts Demolition Drive Against Unauthorised Constructions in Dhaka

Dhaka, 27 January 2026 — The Capital Development Authority of Bangladesh, popularly known as RAJUK, carried out a targeted demolition drive on Monday against buildings that had been constructed in violation of approved plans in the Talatala-Mollapara Road area, under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police jurisdiction.

The operation, spanning from morning until late afternoon, was conducted under the supervision of RAJUK Zone–3/2. It aimed to remove unauthorised extensions and structures that compromised both urban aesthetics and public safety.

Leading the mission, Executive Magistrate Mr. Md. Sabuj Hasan oversaw the dismantling of several illegally extended sections of buildings. During the operation, one property owner was fined BDT 200,000 for contravening approved building designs.

Addressing the media following the operation, Mr. Hasan emphasised RAJUK’s commitment to enforcing building regulations strictly. “Our demolition drives are regular and ongoing. No construction will be permitted if it deviates from the approved plan,” he asserted. He further warned that unapproved structures not only mar the city’s visual appeal but also pose significant risks to public safety.

In addition, building owners involved in Monday’s operation were required to submit written undertakings, pledging to remove unauthorised extensions voluntarily within the next 30 days. Mr. Hasan cautioned that any future construction beyond approved plans without RAJUK’s consent would invite strict legal action.

The demolition drive was conducted with the full participation of RAJUK officials, including Zone–3/2 Authorised Officer Mr. Masuk Ahmed, Assistant Authorised Officers Abdullah Al Mamun and Sariya Islam, Chief Building Inspector Mr. Zainal Abedin Pintu, along with other building inspectors and staff from the authority.
