Bogura authorities have issued an arrest warrant against controversial content creator Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, following allegations of sexual assault and physical abuse. The accusations involve promises of marriage as a lure to commit the alleged offences.
On Tuesday, 10 February, the judge of the Bogura Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2, Anowarul Haque, formally authorised the arrest warrant.
State counsel Ali Asgar confirmed that the decision followed the submission of the Police Bureau of Investigation’s (PBI) report to the court. “After reviewing the findings of the PBI, the tribunal directed that an arrest warrant be issued against Ashraful Alam in connection with the case,” he said.
According to the charge sheet, the complainant, Sadia Rahman Mithila, was allegedly misled by Hero Alam with the promise of turning her into a film actress. Following this deception, it is alleged that Alam subjected her to sexual assault, physical abuse, and ultimately coerced her into undergoing an abortion.
The complainant lodged the case on 21 April 2025 under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act after Hero Alam denied the allegations. The PBI’s investigation initially confirmed the credibility of the complaints, prompting the court to proceed with issuing the arrest warrant.
This case has attracted significant public attention due to Hero Alam’s prominence as a social media personality and content creator. Legal experts note that the issuance of an arrest warrant is a routine step in serious criminal cases when sufficient evidence indicates the accused may evade justice or influence proceedings.
