Epstein ‘A Person of Evil Nature’: Trump Phoned Police Official

The late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was once known to have a cordial relationship with the current President of the United States, Donald Trump. Trump, however, has consistently maintained that he severed ties with Epstein before the financier’s first conviction in 2008. Recent revelations, however, have shed new light on what Trump knew—and when—about Epstein’s behaviour.

Michael Reiter, a former police chief in Palm Beach, Florida, has disclosed that in July 2006 he received a phone call from Donald Trump. According to Reiter, Trump warned him about Epstein’s conduct, saying that “everyone knew” about the financier’s disturbing activities. This information emerged from FBI records released by the US Department of Justice, documenting a 2019 interview with Reiter regarding the early stages of the Epstein investigation.

Reiter stated that Trump expressed relief that law enforcement had intervened, telling him, “Good that you’re stopping him. Everyone knew he had been doing these things for a long time.” While Reiter’s name was redacted in the original documents, it is clear from context that he was the Palm Beach Police Chief during the Epstein inquiry.

Trump has repeatedly denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and claims he was unaware of the abuse. Nevertheless, this alleged phone call raises questions about the President’s awareness and the timeline of his knowledge.

According to Reiter’s account:

Trump informed him that Epstein had been removed from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club.

He described Epstein as “a despicable person” known to people in New York.

He also identified Ghislaine Maxwell as Epstein’s accomplice and stated that she, too, should be watched closely.

Trump recalled leaving a location where minors were present, “quickly and immediately,” underscoring his disapproval of Epstein’s conduct.

Detail Information
Phone call July 2006
Caller Donald Trump
Recipient Michael Reiter, Palm Beach Police Chief
Topic Epstein’s behaviour and Maxwell’s involvement
Key statement “Epstein is a person of evil nature. Vigilance is required.”
Maxwell Later convicted (2021) of recruiting minors for Epstein
Trump’s stated position Removed Epstein from Mar-a-Lago; claims no knowledge of crimes

At the time, the Palm Beach Police were investigating allegations of sexual abuse of minors by Epstein. The case was later handed to federal prosecutors, who reached a controversial non-prosecution agreement in 2008, sparing Epstein from more serious charges.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt commented on the record, stating: “This may have occurred in 2006, or it may not. We do not have confirmation.” She emphasised that Trump has consistently claimed he expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for being “uncivil” and that this alleged call, if it took place, corroborates the President’s long-held assertions.

Images from the 1990s show Trump and Epstein attending social events together, yet the White House maintains that any ties ended around 2004, well before Epstein’s arrest. Trump also stated that the relationship deteriorated after he discovered Epstein was attempting to exploit Mar-a-Lago staff.

This latest revelation comes amid recent congressional scrutiny, following Ghislaine Maxwell’s virtual testimony before the House Oversight Committee, during which she invoked her Fifth Amendment right to remain silent. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in trafficking minors for Epstein. Her legal team has indicated she would testify fully and truthfully if granted a presidential pardon—something Trump has not yet considered.

These newly released records add another layer of scrutiny to the complex and controversial relationship between Epstein, Maxwell, and Trump, raising questions about awareness, accountability, and the early warning signs of criminal activity.
