The Jamaat-e-Islami party has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the process of announcing the results of Bangladesh’s 13th National Parliamentary Election. The statement was released on the party’s verified Facebook page on Friday, 13 February, at 8:30 a.m.
In their post, the party addressed the nation, saying: “Dear citizens, we sincerely thank you for participating in large numbers and ensuring an overwhelmingly positive and peaceful voting environment. However, we are not satisfied with the process of declaring the election results.”
The statement raised several concerns regarding the transparency and fairness of the electoral process. Jamaat highlighted that in various constituencies, candidates from the 11-party alliance were defeated by narrow margins, which the party described as “suspicious.” The announcement also referenced repeated inconsistencies in unofficial results, reluctance by the Election Commission to publish voter turnout rates promptly, and indications of bias from sections of the administration in favour of one major party.
