Three Murders in Three Days 4

The most recent victim, Saiful Islam, 40, was found murdered late on Saturday night (14 February) in the eastern Sonadabari এলাকায় of Bogura. His bloodied body was discovered lying in a grassy plot beside his home in Gabtoli উপজেলার.

According to police and family members, Saiful—son of Jamal Uddin Jamu—had previously worked as a truck driver before establishing himself as the owner of a fleet of seven trucks. He was known to return home late each evening after supervising transport operations.

When he failed to return home by Sunday morning and his mobile phone remained switched off, relatives began searching for him. His body was later found just north of the family residence, bearing deep cuts to the throat, head and other parts of the body.

Officer-in-Charge Anisur Rahman of Gabtoli Police Station confirmed that the body had been recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. “The motive has not yet been established,” he said.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Mohammad Raihan Hossain, stated that multiple stab wounds were evident. Preliminary assessments suggest the হত্যাকাণ্ড may have stemmed from a business dispute. Several investigative teams have been deployed, and officials expressed optimism that suspects would soon be apprehended.

Saiful’s daughter, Sadia Akter, said her father routinely returned home late at night. “When he did not come back on Saturday and his phone was off, we became anxious. On Sunday morning, we found him lying dead near our house,” she said.

Senior police officials maintain that all three cases are being treated with utmost priority. However, until arrests are secured and motives clarified, unease continues to ripple through Bogura’s urban and rural communities alike.
