In a shocking incident in Sondabari, Gabtali Upazila, Bogura, a local truck owner, Saiful Islam (40), was brutally murdered in front of his own residence. The assailants reportedly slit his throat and fled the scene with cash and a basic mobile phone that he was carrying.

The body was discovered on Sunday morning, 15 February, after local residents alerted authorities. Saiful Islam, the son of Jamal Uddin Jamu, was well-known in the community for his honest and courteous behaviour.

Speaking to the media, Hosain Mohammad Raihan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Bogura, confirmed the killing and stated that the motive remains unclear. “We are investigating whether the attack was linked to a personal dispute, business rivalry, or any other cause. At present, the exact circumstances surrounding the murder are not yet determined,” he said. The body has been sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
