Prime Bank Empowers Youth at GAU Seminar

Prime Bank PLC recently hosted a seminar titled “Youth Empowerment” at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU), aiming to foster financial literacy, leadership skills, and professional competence among students. Organised in collaboration with GAU and the GAU Career Club, the event formed part of the bank’s educational initiative under PrimeAcademia, which bridges academic knowledge with practical financial expertise.

PrimeAcademia serves as a specialised platform offering students, educators, and industry participants hands-on opportunities to develop skills crucial for career preparedness, leadership, and employability. Through this initiative, Prime Bank seeks to enhance financial awareness, equip the next generation with decision-making capabilities, and facilitate their transition into professional environments.

The seminar featured two principal speakers from Prime Bank. Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Liability, delivered the keynote address focusing on financial discipline, ethical leadership, continuous self-improvement, and women’s empowerment. She particularly encouraged young female students to leverage digital financial technologies to achieve self-reliance and independence.

Following this, M. M. Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion and School Banking, highlighted the importance of financial inclusion. He explained that opening a bank account is only the first step; expanding opportunities, reducing inequality, and ensuring sustained participation are central to building robust financial systems. He also discussed the implementation of e-KYC, digital onboarding processes, and strategies for nurturing leadership skills among young professionals.

The seminar was attended by GAU’s Director of Student Welfare, Professor Mohammad Sharif Raihan, and Professor Dr Jibon Chandra Das, reflecting strong collaboration between the academic and banking sectors.
