The official Facebook page of the Chief Adviser of the interim government has announced its imminent closure, signalling the end of a digital platform that has served as a key communication channel for the past eighteen months.
On Wednesday, 18 February, a post on the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser confirmed that the page would no longer remain active. The message expressed heartfelt gratitude to the public for their continuous support, engagement, and constructive criticism, emphasising that such participation had enriched the Chief Adviser’s tenure and contributed to the journey’s significance.
“We sincerely thank everyone for their interest, support, and participation over the past eighteen months. Your encouragement, cooperation, and constructive feedback have made our journey more meaningful and rewarding,” the post stated.
The announcement comes a day after a historic parliamentary event. On Tuesday, 17 February, at 4:15 pm, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was sworn in as Prime Minister at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House. The oath of office was administered by President Md. Sahabuddin.
Earlier in the day, Members of Parliament also took their oaths. The process began with MPs elected from the BNP, followed by members from the 11-party alliance, independent MPs, and other representatives. The Chief Election Commissioner, A M M Nasir Uddin, administered the oaths to all.
The Chief Adviser’s Facebook page, officially titled “Chief Adviser GOB (Head of the Government),” was inaugurated on 14 August, and quickly became a significant medium for government announcements and public engagement. Over the course of its operation, the page amassed more than 4.4 million followers, reflecting widespread public interest in the interim administration’s policies, decisions, and initiatives.
