Jashore’s Sharsha Upazila has been shaken by a shocking murder, as a local veterinary doctor, Al Amin Hossain (30), was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon. The incident occurred on Thursday night around 10:00 pm near the government primary school in Gatipara village. According to local residents, Al Amin was a familiar figure in the community and had been providing veterinary services to the villagers for several years.
Al Amin, the son of Rafiqul Islam from the Navaron area of Sharsha, was returning home after performing Tarawih prayers when the attack took place. Eyewitnesses reported that unidentified assailants blocked his motorcycle in the vicinity of Gatipara Government Primary School and launched a sudden, brutal assault, striking him multiple times with a sharp object. The local police arrived at the scene shortly after 10:30 pm, recovering his body and sending it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination. The body is scheduled to be handed over to the family on Friday following formal procedures.
Sharsha Police Station’s investigating officer, Inspector Shah Alam, stated, “The victim sustained multiple deep wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon. At this stage, it is not clear who was responsible for this brutal killing. The case remains under investigation.”
Preliminary inquiries suggest that Al Amin’s personal life may have been a contributing factor. Deputy Inspector S.M. Mosharaf Hossain indicated, “Al Amin had two wives, and there had been domestic discord with his second spouse. We are examining whether these family issues have any connection to the murder.”
The family and local community are deeply distressed and have expressed concern about safety in the area. Residents are calling on authorities to solve the case promptly and bring the perpetrators to justice.
