Tragedy struck in Kabirhat, Noakhali, on Friday when an out-of-control oil-laden truck ploughed into a roadside shop, killing two people and injuring three others. The victims’ identities have not yet been confirmed.
According to the acting Officer-in-Charge of Kabirhat Police Station, Md. Nizamul Uddin Bhuiya, the incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. in the Transmitter area of the upazila. The officer confirmed the casualties shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Police reports indicate that the truck was travelling from Sonapur towards Kabirhat when the driver lost control near the roadside. The vehicle mounted the pavement and crashed into the shop, leaving two people dead at the scene and three others critically injured. Emergency services rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving treatment.
The accident sparked immediate outrage among local residents, who temporarily blocked the road in protest. Police teams promptly arrived to manage the crowd and restore order.
