Indian leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has confirmed his divorce from wife Ishani Johar, just days before what would have been their fourth wedding anniversary. The couple had tied the knot on 9 March 2022 in Goa, when Chahar was only 22 years old.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Chahar described the past 15 months as the most challenging period of his life. He revealed that navigating the legal proceedings of the divorce had been an arduous experience, teaching him profound lessons he had never anticipated.
“I entered marriage at a very young age, without fully understanding myself, my values, or the kind of life I wanted to build,” Chahar wrote. “Since then, I have faced experiences I could never have imagined. Over the past fifteen months, going through the legal process has taught me patience, resilience, and the strength that comes from truth.”
He further reflected,
“Today, this chapter of my life formally concludes. The legal proceedings are complete, which came at a significant personal cost. I close this chapter not with anger or regret, but with clarity. Some relationships are not meant to last forever; they awaken us, teach us, and change us.”
Chahar, who has represented India seven times in limited-overs cricket, is set to feature in the upcoming IPL season. He was acquired by Chennai Super Kings for ₹5.2 crore in the 2026 IPL auction. Despite a quiet previous season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he played only one match without taking a wicket, Chahar has maintained a respectable IPL record.
