Due to scheduled maintenance and repair operations, the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be temporarily reduced, leading to lower gas pressure across various regions of the country.
Petrobangla, the state-owned energy corporation, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday, 25 February.
According to the notice, from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, the supply of re-gasified LNG (RLNG) from the FSRU facility in Maheshkhali, operated by Excelerate Energy, will be curtailed to facilitate essential maintenance and upkeep. This temporary reduction is expected to affect gas pressure, particularly in certain industrial and domestic areas.
Petrobangla reassured consumers that the measure is necessary to ensure long-term reliability and safety of the national gas infrastructure. The authority also expressed sincere apologies for any inconvenience this temporary disruption may cause to households, businesses, and industries.
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Date of Supply Reduction | Wednesday, 25 February 2026 |
| Duration | 11:00 am – 5:30 pm |
| Location of Supply Source | FSRU, Maheshkhali |
| Operator | Excelerate Energy |
| Type of Gas | Re-gasified LNG (RLNG) |
| Expected Impact | Temporary low gas pressure in various regions |
| Purpose | Maintenance and repair works |
Petrobangla emphasised that while gas pressure may be lower in some areas, the supply itself will continue, albeit at a reduced level. Residents and industrial operators were advised to plan accordingly and to avoid high-consumption activities during the scheduled maintenance window.
Officials highlighted that the FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) at Maheshkhali is a critical hub for LNG imports, ensuring the steady supply of gas to meet domestic and industrial demands. Routine maintenance is essential to prevent operational hazards and to maintain the efficiency of gas transmission across the national network.
The government agency further urged consumers to remain patient and cooperative, assuring that normal gas pressure levels would be restored promptly once the maintenance work is completed.
Petrobangla concluded by reminding users that timely maintenance of energy infrastructure is a crucial step towards ensuring sustainable and uninterrupted energy supply for the entire nation.
