In a coordinated four-hour operation, law enforcement authorities detained at least 100 individuals in the Mohammadpur and Adabar areas of the capital last night. The operation, which commenced at 10:00 PM and concluded at 2:00 AM, focused on curbing extortion, robbery, and juvenile gang activities.
The Tejgaon Police Division confirmed that the operation was led by Deputy Commissioner Md. Ibne Mizan. Senior officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners, and the Officers-in-Charge of both Mohammadpur and Adabar police stations, actively participated in the raid.
According to police sources, the primary objective of the operation was to protect local residents from criminal activities, particularly extortion and street robberies, and to suppress the emergence of juvenile gangs. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring that citizens could observe the holy month of Ramadan peacefully and celebrate Eid without disruption.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Ibne Mizan stated, “Operations of this nature will continue regularly in Mohammadpur and Adabar to prevent extortionists, robbers, and juvenile gangs from gaining influence. Ensuring the safety of our citizens is our foremost priority.”
