Following the recent escalation of cross-border attacks between Iran and Israel, which led to the suspension of flights on Saturday, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced the resumption of its services to Madinah and Jeddah today, Sunday. The airline confirmed that passengers affected by Saturday’s cancellations have been given priority for the rescheduled flights.
Flight BG 337 is scheduled to depart from Dhaka to Madinah at 4:00 PM, while Flight BG 335 will leave for Jeddah at 7:00 PM. Both flights will operate from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, and passengers are urged to arrive well in advance of the departure times to complete check-in and security procedures smoothly.
A Biman press release, signed by the airline’s General Manager of Public Relations, stated: “Operational complexities on Saturday, 28 February, necessitated the temporary cancellation of the Madinah and Jeddah flights. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to our valued passengers. Priority boarding for the rescheduled flights has been arranged for those affected.”
| Flight | Destination | Departure Time (Dhaka) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| BG 337 | Madinah | 16:00 | Priority boarding for Saturday’s cancelled passengers |
| BG 335 | Jeddah | 19:00 | Priority boarding for Saturday’s cancelled passengers |
The airline has also requested that all passengers check their travel documents, boarding passes, and COVID-19 related requirements (if any) prior to arrival at the airport. Authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have coordinated additional staff to manage the expected passenger flow and ensure smooth boarding.
The resumption of these flights is seen as a relief for Bangladeshi travellers intending to perform Umrah or engage in business and family visits in Saudi Arabia, particularly following the operational disruptions caused by regional tensions in the Middle East. Biman continues to monitor the security situation and will make adjustments as necessary to maintain passenger safety and flight reliability.
Passengers are advised to stay updated with the airline’s official notifications for any last-minute changes and to plan their airport arrival accordingly.
