Prime Bank PLC has taken a significant step forward in digital banking by introducing a next-generation near field communication account-linked sticker card branded “TapIn”, in collaboration with Mastercard. The innovative solution has been developed by Idemia, with local technological support provided by ADN Technologies Limited. The initiative is designed to make everyday transactions faster, more secure, and considerably more convenient for customers across the country.
The official launch ceremony was held at Prime Tower in the capital, where senior executives from the partner organisations addressed invited guests and media representatives. Among the speakers were M. Nazim A. Choudhury, Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank PLC; Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager of Mastercard in Bangladesh; and A. M. Ehsan Ul Haque, Chief Executive Officer of ADN Technologies Limited. They underscored the importance of technology-driven financial services in expanding digital inclusion and strengthening the nation’s evolving payments ecosystem.
TapIn is a slim and lightweight sticker embedded with near field communication technology. It can be affixed to a mobile handset, wallet, or other personal belongings, transforming them into a contactless payment device. By simply tapping the sticker on a compatible terminal, customers can complete transactions instantly. This approach reduces reliance on cash and eliminates the need to carry a traditional plastic card while retaining the same level of functionality.
The sticker card is accepted at merchant outlets worldwide that operate within the Mastercard acceptance network. It is also enabled for online purchases and provides access to cash withdrawals at Prime Bank automated teller machines. Integration with the bank’s proprietary digital banking platform, MyPrime, ensures seamless account management and transaction monitoring.
Security remains a central feature of TapIn. The solution incorporates advanced encryption technology to safeguard financial data and protect customers against unauthorised access. A robust fraud monitoring system actively detects suspicious activities, enabling swift intervention when necessary. Customers receive instant transaction alerts, allowing them to maintain real-time oversight of their accounts.
Across the country, more than 10,000 Mastercard partner merchant outlets offer year-round privileges and promotional benefits. Internationally, customers may also enjoy exclusive discounts and incentives through the global Mastercard network.
