His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has formally conveyed his deep condolences to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, following the tragic death of a Bangladeshi national in a missile-related incident linked to regional tensions involving Iran.
In an official message addressed to the Bangladeshi premier, the Bahraini monarch expressed profound sorrow over the loss of life and extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family. He also conveyed solidarity with the people of Bangladesh during what he described as a painful and distressing moment.
The message was formally delivered late on Monday night during a telephone conversation between Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Khalilur Rahman. During the call, the Bahraini minister confirmed that the Bangladeshi citizen had died after being struck by debris from an Iranian missile. Officials clarified that the fatal injury resulted from falling fragments rather than a direct strike.
According to a statement issued by Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, security measures were strengthened immediately after the incident. The affected area was secured, and a comprehensive investigation was launched to establish the precise circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Authorities are also collecting information regarding the deceased individual’s identity, employment details, and family situation to ensure that appropriate support and assistance are provided.
Bahrain hosts a substantial number of Bangladeshi expatriates who contribute significantly to sectors such as construction, manufacturing, hospitality, and domestic services. The incident has understandably caused concern within the expatriate community. In response, the Bahraini government has reassured all foreign nationals that it remains fully committed to ensuring their safety and maintaining heightened vigilance amid regional instability.
Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s swift action and compassionate outreach. He reaffirmed that the protection of overseas Bangladeshi citizens remains a national priority and emphasised the importance of continued bilateral cooperation in safeguarding expatriate communities.
