Defamation Case Filed Against Actress Mimi

Actress Mimi Chakraborty finds herself in fresh legal trouble as Tanay Shastri has approached the Banka court, filing two separate cases against her for alleged defamation and false accusations. In the primary defamation suit, Shastri is seeking compensation of ₹20 lakh, while the second case raises issues related to breach of contract and financial claims.

Background of the Incident

The controversy stems from a recent annual event organised by the Banka Nayagopalganj Youth Association. Mimi Chakraborty attended the programme, but a dispute arose regarding her conduct on stage. Shastri, the event’s main organiser, allegedly harassed the actress, prompting her to raise concerns publicly on social media.

However, members of the club have denied the allegations, claiming that Mimi arrived nearly an hour later than scheduled. Since the event had permission only until midnight, organisers requested that she leave the stage on time.

Following this, Mimi filed a harassment complaint with the Banka Police Station, leading to Shastri’s temporary arrest. She later provided a confidential statement at the Banka Subdivisional Court. Currently, Shastri is out on bail. Subsequently, he filed a counter-complaint with the same police station.

Legal Claims and Financial Demands

Now, Shastri has taken the matter to the Banka court, officially filing a lawsuit through his lawyer, Tarunjyoti Tiwari. The lawsuit cites defamatory statements and false accusations made by Mimi and seeks significant compensation for reputational damage. Additionally, the suit alleges a breach of contract regarding the event and requests the return of ₹2.65 lakh paid in advance.

Claim Type Description Amount Claimed
Defamation & False Accusation Alleged public and social media harm ₹20,00,000
Breach of Contract Refund of event advance payment ₹2,65,000

As of now, Mimi Chakraborty has not issued any public statement regarding the cases. Legal observers note that these proceedings may set a precedent concerning personal reputation and contractual obligations in public events.

This case is currently under investigation, and the court proceedings are ongoing. Both parties are yet to present their final statements, leaving the final verdict pending. The matter has attracted significant attention within media and entertainment circles, with many watching closely to see how the legal battle unfolds.
