Four Dead in Separate Road Accidents in Capital

Tragedy struck the capital on Friday evening as two separate road accidents claimed the lives of four individuals. The victims included two passengers and an auto-rickshaw driver. Authorities reported that the families were returning home after completing their Eid shopping when the incidents occurred.

The first accident took place at the Science Lab intersection. Sazu Ahmed Sumon, a 35-year-old office assistant at the Public Works Department, was riding home on a motorcycle with his only daughter, Sithi, aged 23. Around 9:00 PM, as they reached the intersection, a sand-laden truck collided with their motorcycle. Sumon died instantly at the scene, while Sithi, critically injured, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The second accident occurred at the Tejgaon Satrastha intersection. Harunur Rashid Sani, aged 40, was returning home with his family in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. While attempting a U-turn, the vehicle struck a traffic island. Passersby immediately took the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors confirmed the deaths of Sani and the auto-rickshaw driver, Alim. Sani’s wife and sister remain in critical condition under medical care.

Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost, confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been preserved in the morgue. Police have notified the relevant stations and are pursuing legal proceedings in connection with both accidents.
