Drug Convictions and Fuel Station Inspections in Kaliganj

A mobile court operation in the Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur has resulted in the conviction of two local men on drug-related charges. The administrative sweep, conducted on Saturday, 7 March 2026, targeted the illegal possession and consumption of narcotics in the Munsurpur area, while simultaneously ensuring regulatory compliance at local fuel dispensaries.

Judicial Action Against Narcotics

The operation was led by Zakia Sarwar Lima, the Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Kaliganj. During the raid in Munsurpur village, law enforcement officials apprehended two individuals found in possession of heroin.

According to Mahbubul Islam, the Bench Assistant of the mobile court, the suspects were caught with four small packets (locally referred to as puria) of the illicit substance. Under the Narcotics Control Act, the magistrate summarily sentenced both men to one month of simple imprisonment. Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Alim of the Kaliganj Police Station served as the prosecutor during the proceedings.
