Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply on Saturday as hostilities between Iran and the United States–Israel coalition entered their second week. US President Donald Trump issued renewed threats of intensified attacks, vowing to target additional Iranian leaders and “completely devastate” key installations across the country.
Despite these warnings, Iran remains resolute. President Masoud Pejeshkian reiterated that Tehran will not surrender under external pressure. He condemned attacks on Iranian targets in Israel while expressing regret over damage to neighbouring countries, clarifying that Iran will not retaliate against nations not directly involved in aggression.
On the eighth day of hostilities, Israeli forces reportedly planned extensive strikes against several Iranian sites, including Mehrabad Airport in Tehran and the military university of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In response, Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks against US and Israeli installations in the region, employing hypersonic missiles travelling over five times the speed of sound.
Targets included:
Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia
Al-Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates
Ali Al-Salem Air Base, Kuwait
Additionally, drone attacks were reported at Dubai International Airport. The IRGC also claimed to have struck two oil tankers flagged to Malta and the Marshall Islands in the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting the conflict’s maritime dimension.
The war has now spread across twelve countries in the Middle East, with at least 29 reported fatalities outside Iran. In Dubai, debris from missiles and drones caused the death of a local driver in Al-Barsha. Within Iran, updated casualty figures were not released on Saturday; however, as of Friday, the country reported 1,332 deaths. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior confirmed multiple buildings were damaged in Manama due to Iranian strikes.
| Parameter | Details |

Analysts note that Iran’s defiance signals a commitment to sustain military operations despite mounting international pressure. The use of hypersonic weapons and strikes on critical infrastructure demonstrates Tehran’s operational reach, potentially altering regional security calculations.
The ongoing conflict underscores the fragility of regional stability, with both sides engaged in precision strikes and strategic messaging. Observers warn that continued escalation could disrupt energy supplies, trade routes, and civilian infrastructure across the Middle East.
As hostilities continue, the world watches closely, aware that the war’s trajectory may redefine geopolitical alignments and provoke wider international responses in the coming weeks.
