Vigilante Violence in Narayanganj: Suspected Robber Killed

In a shocking incident in Narayanganj, a suspected robber was killed by a mob during a daylight attempted theft in the 9th Ward of Siddhirganj. The incident occurred early this morning, leaving the community both alarmed and questioning public safety measures.

According to local reports, the incident took place at approximately 6:00 a.m. in the Jalcuri Kori Tala area of Siddhirganj. Three young men on a motorcycle attempted to rob a pedestrian when they were intercepted by local residents. While two of the suspects managed to flee on foot, one unidentified male, believed to be around 26 years old, was caught by the crowd. He was subjected to a severe assault at the scene, which resulted in his death.

Eyewitnesses also reported that, in the aftermath of the attack, the crowd set the motorcycle used in the robbery ablaze. Authorities have confirmed that police arrived after the fatal assault had taken place.

Official Statement

Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdul Barik of Siddhirganj Police Station stated:
“The individual died before police arrived at the scene. We are currently stationed in the area to maintain order. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed, and efforts are ongoing to establish his name.”
