On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2026, the National Women’s Alliance, a sister organization of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASAD), organised a vibrant discussion session today, Sunday, 8 March 2026, at 4:30 pm at the Shaheed Colonel Taher Auditorium on Bangabandhu Avenue. The session was chaired by Syeda Shamima Sultana Happy, Women’s Affairs Secretary of JASAD and leader of the National Women’s Alliance, and moderated by Rabeya Dilruba.
Key speakers included:
Shafi Uddin Molla, Vice President, JASAD Central Committee, Freedom Fighter

During the discussion, the speakers emphasised that the measure of progressiveness of any individual, organisation, or political party is reflected in their commitment to uphold the human dignity of women and girl children, and to work actively for their human rights and justice. They strongly called for united action against gender discrimination as well as all forms of social inequity.
The speakers highlighted that those who once wore the mask of anti-discrimination while advocating against quota-based inequality have now been unmasked. According to them, forces that perpetuate discrimination between men and women or between rich and poor are oppressive and exploitative. They further identified religious fundamentalist forces as the greatest threat to women’s rights and freedom.
The discussion concluded with a call to action, urging all progressive individuals, groups, and political entities to work collectively to increase women’s participation and influence in trade unions, class, professional, social organisations, and political leadership.
