In a significant move to revitalise their international standing, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has officially announced the appointment of South African legend Gary Kirsten as the new head coach of the men’s national team. Subsequently, he led his native South Africa to the pinnacle of the sport, where the Proteas achieved the rare feat of being ranked world number one across all three formats simultaneously in 2013.
Before accepting the Sri Lankan post, Kirsten served as a consultant for the Namibian national team during the most recent T20 World Cup, showcasing his continued relevance in the evolving tactical landscape of the game.
