The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has successfully concluded a rigorous, multi-district special operation, resulting in the arrest of 60 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal activities. The co-ordinated raids, which spanned Saturday and Sunday, targeted high-priority zones across the capital to curb the rising tide of petty theft, narcotics trafficking, and outstanding felony warrants.

Strategic Coordination Across Eight Districts

The operation was concentrated primarily within the northern and western administrative sectors of Dhaka. According to a formal press release issued by the DMP headquarters on Monday, the task force executed simultaneous “cordon and search” manoeuvres in the following precincts: Shah Ali, Bhashantek, Mirpur Model, Kafrul, Rupnagar, Darus Salam, Pallabi, and Uttara East.

The profile of those detained includes alleged drug traffickers, repeat offenders with active arrest warrants, suspected muggers, and individuals apprehended for the public consumption of illicit substances.

The DMP has confirmed that all 60 detainees have been processed and forwarded to the relevant judicial authorities to face formal charges. Senior officials emphasised that these targeted interventions are part of a broader mandate to restore public order and ensure the safety of Dhaka’s residents. “We will maintain this heightened state of vigilance,” a DMP spokesperson stated. “Our objective is to dismantle the networks of muggers and drug peddlers who threaten the social fabric of our capital.”
