A tragic accident in Chattogram claimed the life of a local lawyer, Kawsar Hossain Samrat, aged 35, after his motorcycle was struck by an oncoming truck. The incident occurred late Thursday evening, around 10:30 pm, in the Boroutan Dakpara area of Karnaphuli Upazila.
Kawsar Hossain was the son of Ruhul Amin, a retired teacher of Daulatpur Multipurpose High School. Although originally from Shariatpur district, he had lived in Daulatpur, Karnaphuli, with his family since childhood. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
According to police reports and local witnesses, Kawsar was travelling from Chattogram’s Chatri Choumuhani market to his home in Daulatpur on his motorcycle. When he reached the Boroutan Dakpara stretch, a truck coming in the opposite direction collided with him. The impact caused him to be thrown from his motorcycle, leaving him with severe injuries. Local residents immediately rushed him to a private hospital in the city, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The sudden loss has left the community in mourning. Friends and colleagues described Kawsar as a dedicated lawyer with a commitment to justice and a gentle personality that endeared him to many in the legal and local community. His untimely death has sparked conversations around road safety, particularly regarding trucks operating late at night on narrow roads.
Following Friday’s Jumma prayers, Kawsar Hossain Samrat was laid to rest in Karnaphuli Upazila after his funeral prayers. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the collision, seeking to identify the truck and its driver. Local police have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially during night-time travel, to prevent similar tragedies.
