Authorities in Lakshmipur have once again apprehended notorious drug kingpin Delwar Hossain, widely known as Michael, along with an associate, in a significant anti-narcotics operation.
The arrests took place late on Tuesday night, 17 March, in Shibpur village under Bamni Union, Raipur. During the operation, law enforcement recovered a substantial quantity of methamphetamine (commonly referred to as “Yaba”) along with paraphernalia used for its distribution and consumption.
The detainees have been identified as:
Delwar Hossain (Michael), aged 36, son of Abul Kalam from Shibpur village, Bamni Union.
Kiron Hossain, aged 35, son of Badiuzzaman from Denayetpur village, Raipur Municipality.
The seizure was carried out under the supervision of the District Detective Branch (DB) police, in coordination with the local unit of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC). According to Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Assistant Director of DNC Lakshmipur, Michael is a highly experienced and elusive drug trafficker.
“Despite facing multiple arrests and over thirty criminal cases, Michael has repeatedly returned to the drug trade,” Sharif Uddin stated. “During Tuesday’s operation, our officers conducted a body search which led to the recovery of 710 methamphetamine tablets.”
Following the arrests, Sub-Inspector Sanowar Hossain filed two cases under the Narcotics Control Act at Raipur Police Station against the accused. The detainees are currently in police custody pending further investigation.
| Name | Age | Parentage | Village | Items Seized | Cases Filed |
