Limited Bank Services on Thursday for RMG Workers

In observance of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, a select number of bank branches across Bangladesh will operate on a limited schedule this Thursday, 19 March, to facilitate salary and allowance disbursement for ready-made garment (RMG) workers. The move comes under the directive of the Bangladesh Bank, ensuring that key industrial areas receive essential banking services despite the holiday.

According to the central bank’s notice, branches located in Dhaka Metropolitan Area, as well as industrial hubs in Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram, will remain open with a reduced workforce. The office hours for these branches are scheduled from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with customer transactions permitted from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A short break will be observed for the Dhuhr (noon) prayers.

This initiative represents the central bank’s effort to maintain critical banking operations without disrupting public observance of the religious holiday. Customers are also reminded to check individual branch notices for any further temporary adjustments.
