In a tragic incident in Bandarban, the bodies of a mother and her young daughter were recovered after being found at the base of a remote hill. The grim discovery was made on Thursday, 19 March, in the isolated hilly area of Meghla Lalmohon Bagan, Tanchangya Para.

The deceased have been identified as Romesing Marma, aged 30, and her four-year-old daughter Bristi Marma. The family resides in Kanapara village in the Meghla area of Bandarban town.

Circumstances of the Discovery

According to police and local sources, Romesing and her daughter had been reported missing since the previous night. Family members had conducted a search across various locations when they spotted the bodies lying at the foot of a steep hill in Tanchangya Para. Authorities were immediately informed, and police, assisted by local residents, retrieved the bodies and sent them to Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for further examination.

Local residents suspect that the mother and daughter may have fallen from the hilltop, although the exact circumstances remain unclear.

Official Response

The incident has stirred concern among the local community, who are demanding a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of death and ensure that any responsible parties are held accountable.

Additional Police Superintendent (Sadar Circle) Manna De confirmed the recovery of the bodies from Meghla. “The precise cause of death has not yet been determined. We await the autopsy report to understand the circumstances fully,” he stated.
